Our Mission

Why do we care so much about the planet? Working with the elements and Spirit of our Earth, it feels only natural that we do our part in honoring her back. The mission at Ember & Pearl Co. is to bring you consciously crafted products using plant magic! We strive to honor the Earth by doing what we can to protect it and this means limiting waste, reducing toxic materials, and encouraging actionable changes through reducing, reusing, and recycling. 

Crystal Sourcing

Let me be up front, just like the phrases “there’s no ethical consumption under capitalism”  or “there’s no zero waste lifestyle”, there’s no real “ethically sourced crystal”. The crystal industry is a controversial one which undergoes its fair share of unsafe work conditions, miner exploitation and environmental destruction. That’s why when deciding to sell crystals, Ember & Pearl chooses to source from suppliers that only work with worker-led cooperatives and aim to give back to the planet through reforestation as well.

I'm also committed to not supplying conflict minerals (aka minerals that are over-mined as a result of human rights abuse), or outsourcing from regions currently undergoing economic or civil unrest. Ultimately, unless I was to mine the minerals myself, it is impossible to fully tell if a crystal is “ethically sourced” but I am fully committed to being as conscious as possible when choosing suppliers. 

How We Do It

It’s unrealistic to think that we can be 100% perfect 100% of the time. Especially as a solo-operated small business, I don’t yet have the same sustainable resources that larger brands do (such as fully compostable labels, plantable paper, or 100% plastic free packaging). With a background and passion for art, it’s also increasingly hard to make spiritually elevating decor and beauty that is entirely waste or synthetic free (although I sure am trying). That is why I'm committed to doing the best that I can do through actionable changes and easy modifications.

All of the shipping materials contain compostable wrapping, kraft filling,  or reused plastic from wholesale orders. Art and beauty items are consciously crafted to be long lasting. Product packaging, which primarily features glass, is designed to be repurposed and reused. Flowers and herbs are always organic, and the synthetic materials that are used are only made using plants and free of parabens. My goal is to be fully transparent with sustainability and ethicality efforts to give you the peace of mind and confidence to keep bettering the planet! 


Even the simplest actions can make a difference when it comes to long-term changes. At Ember & Pearl Co. we aren’t aiming for “perfect”, we aim to leave the planet and the Spirit better than we found it! ♡
